Never leave home without

Having already used his personal CellAED® twice, GoodSAM Responder, Ethan, never leaves home without it.

“The first time I used my CellAED®, I was on the scene within minutes of the GoodSAM alert. I was first to the scene and had been called to a private home of an elderly couple. I immediately began CPR and applied my CellAED®, which delivered three shocks, before Emergency Services arrived to take over,” said Ethan.

Ethan truly believes that CellAED® played a vital role in keeping the patient alive until they arrived. “The ambos did deliver one further shock with their AED; however, they did make it clear that the patient was unlikely to have survived the sudden cardiac arrest, if I had not delivered the shocks with my CellAED® device, saving previous time before their arrival to the scene,” reiterated Ethan.

“The family of the resident that I tended to went on to purchase their own CellAED®, because they saw the critical role CellAED® played in the chain of survival, ultimately reviving their precious family member until Emergency Services arrived” he was pleased to add.

The second time Ethan was called out to a sudden cardiac arrest, he was in Melbourne. “I was in the lift at my hotel where I was staying when the GoodSAM alert went off. I couldn’t believe the incident I was being called to was in the same hotel. Emergency Services arrived at the same time I did, so they took care of the patient.”

“I was just so relieved I had my CellAED® with me in case I was required to help because I know every single minute counts,” shared Ethan.

Ethan has been a GoodSAM responder for over 3 years and has recently finished studying nursing, as well as being a Country Fire Authority (CFA) volunteer. More than most, he knows how important every minute is when it comes to a sudden cardiac arrest. GoodSAM is an integrated program that connects emergency medical services with volunteer responders (via the GoodSAM App) to a nearby suspected cardiac arrest.

Responders can choose to respond to alerts and provide life-saving support until paramedics arrive. If you are interested in becoming a GoodSAM Responder, you can download the GoodSAM App via the AppStore or Google Play.

Whether trained in first aid or not, CellAED® is so easy-to-use that it can be used by anyone. Activated using its unique SNAP, PEEL, STICK™ application, it can be applied to someone in seconds. Once snapped, the voice instructions guide the user through the CPR and defibrillation steps.

“I take it with me EVERYWHERE I go, it’s now a habit, when I leave my home, I grab my wallet, phone, keys, and CellAED®,” Ethan.
