Take the humble lightbulb as an example. When energy-efficient bulbs were introduced, they turned decades of assumptions on their head. Consumers had to shift from associating brightness with watts (power) to lumens (actual light output).
This transition wasn’t easy, and neither was the industry’s adjustment to producing longer-lasting, more efficient bulbs. In fact, some manufacturers initially resisted the change, as demonstrated by the actions of the Phoebus cartel, which worked to stifle innovation to protect their commercial interests. But ultimately, this innovation reshaped how we think about lighting, benefiting both consumers and the environment.

For decades, joules, a measure of energy, has been used as a standard for determining the effectiveness of a defibrillator shock. CellAED®, however, is leading this paradigm shift using patented technology that delivers an effective shock with 75 joules, a fraction of the energy used by other defibrillators on the market.
Just as an energy efficient lightbulb can be as bright as a normal lightbulb, using a fraction of the power (watts), CellAED® can deliver an effective shock equivalent to other AEDs with half the amount of energy (joules). Research has proven that joules do not indicate the effectiveness of a shock, and it is the current across the heart that achieves defibrillation.
